Safar

Safar: Misconception VS Reality

The month of Safar, the second month in the Islamic lunar calendar, often becomes the subject of numerous misconceptions. Many people regard this month as unlucky or associate it with calamities, sickness, and misfortune. Such views, however, have no basis in the Qur’an or the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ clearly stated:
“… nor is there any bad omen in the month of Safar…”
(Sahih al-Bukhari)

Islam rejects all forms of superstition. Safar is like any other month, neither unlucky nor cursed. There is no harm in getting married, travelling, or beginning new ventures during this time. Misfortune and blessings come from Allah ﷻ alone, not from dates or months.

To help you learn more and reflect deeply, we’ve compiled a selection of talks and presentations that address the reality of the month of Safar and clarify the misconceptions surrounding it.
