Dhul Hijjah – The Month of Spirituality!
Embrace the Blessings of Dhul Hijjah
As we approach the sacred month of Dhul Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic lunar calendar, let us embrace its immense blessings.
Dhul Hijjah is a time for spiritual reflection and devotion, as well as the joyous celebration of Eid al-Adha. It is that special time of the year when millions of Muslims from around the world perform Hajj.
The first ten days of Dhul Hijjah are particularly significant. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, “There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.”
(Sahih Bukhari)
These golden days are filled with opportunities for worship and reward, a chance for us to renew our faith and draw closer to Allah (SWT). During these ten blessed days, Muslims are encouraged to engage in various forms of worship, including:
-
-
- Fasting: Especially on the Day of Arafah (9th Dhul-Hijjah)
- Prayer and Remembrance: Additional prayers, Qur’an recitation, and dhikr
- Charity: Give generously to those in need
- Sacrifice: Observing the practice of Qurbani (sacrifice)
-
Tips to Engage Children in their Summer Break:
-
-
- Tell them the story of the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) so that they are enriched with its essence and significance.
- Engage children in Eid decor, making them and putting them up.
- Encourage your children to recite the Qur’an to you and learn Surahs.
- Facilitate them in establishing Salah.
- Nurture empathy and kindness in them through charity.
-
Let’s come together with our families to make the most of these special days of Dhul-Hijjah. May Allah (SWT) accept our efforts and bless us during these sacred days. Ameen.
