Don’t Waste the Prayer!
It is of utmost importance that we keep examining the state of our 5 daily prayers because the people that are being condemned in this verse are those who neglect their prayer.
Some people asked Ibn Mas’ūd (RA), what it means to waste the prayer.
He said, ‘It is to delay it, so that its time is up.’
They said, ‘We thought this means they left the prayer.’
He said, ‘If they had left the prayer, they would be Kāfirūn.’
It is essential to offer the prayers in their allocated time as prayers done on time is the most beloved deed to Allah ﷻ.
